- my ship out date for basic is october 29, 2009. long time but... if they find a job slot that opens up earlier then im going to go sooner. most of the time they do just find that... so as of now i have no clue when i will be leaving.
- my job? a boatswain mate and i think wikipedia can explain my job better then i can lol so hear you go... Boatswain's mates train, direct, and supervise personnel in ship's maintenance duties in all activities relating to marlinspike, deck, boat seamanship, painting, upkeep of ship's external structure, rigging, deck equipment, and boats.[1] Boatswain's Mates take charge of working parties; perform seamanship tasks; act as petty officer-in-charge of picketboats, self-propelled barges, tugs, and other yard and district craft.[1] They serve in, or take charge of damage control parties.[1] BM's also operate and maintain equipment used in loading and unloading cargo, ammunition, fuel, and general stores.[1] BMs take charge of and supervise UNREP (underway replenishment) procedures and equipment. They are integral to ship's navigation and serve as ship's Helmsman.
- my rank? thank god for my jrotc in high school!!! i mean without it i would be going in with as a seamen recruit. with it i go in as a petty officer 3rd class. i skip a hell of a lot ranks just because of those 4 years in that program. we cant forget the most important part too... with higher rank of course comes higher pay!!! so im glad for that atleast.
there you go guys. i mean im excited to start this adventure but again i cant stand what im leaving behind... family and friends. it sucks but ill get plenty of time off to see them for sure =]
